It’s time for the fifth installment of Overwatch World Cup Spotlight, where we take on an in-depth look into an Overwatch League pro who will be representing their country. This week we take a look at the Swedish DPS star TviQ.

Becoming A Pro

Before playing Overwatch, Kevyn “TviQ” Lindstrom was a top ranked pro in Team Fortress 2 with his hitscan play with Scout and Sniper. When Overwatch released he quickly switched games and began his run to the top. TviQ’s big break into pro Overwatch would be with Team Rogue. While with Rogue he competed in tournaments all around the world, with his most notable win being against Lunatic-Hai (now the Seoul Dynasty) in APEC tournament finals.

Shortly after, TviQ had the opportunity to represent his country at BlizzCon for the 2016 Overwatch World Cup. Team Sweden took 3rd place spot with a win over Team Finland. On December 5th 2016, a huge team trade occurred that sent TviQ to Misfits and allowed him to play with names like Nevix, Reinforce, and CWoosh.

Road To OWL

While with Misfits TviQ played in both season 0 and season 1 of Overwatch Contenders. Sadly both ended with Misfits falling just short in second place. TviQ  had shown how valuable a player he was and returned to Sweden for the 2017 Overwatch World Cup. TviQ and team Sweden again took 3rd place, this time defeating a stacked French roster 4-2.

Two days before competing in the Overwatch World Cup it was announced that the entire Misfits roster would be taking the next step forward in their career as they would be moving to the Overwatch League. The team they would form would later be announced as the Florida Mayhem. During the inaugural season of Overwatch League, TviQ and the Mayhem struggled to find their footing for the first part of the season. Eventually they would make some improvements but still ended up finishing second to last in the standings.

While we wont see TviQ play until the Bangkok group stage until September 14th, we wish him and team Sweden the best of luck as they scrim and prepare to earn their spot once again at BlizzCon.
