After years of European fans asking for their own Blizzard gear store, Blizzard has finally granted their wish: the European Gear Store is now live! Players will now be able to purchase much of the same gear that the US store has without paying ridiculous import fees and shipping costs.

Cause for celebration

Blizzard has produced some really cool items over the years, including clothes, figures, and other memorabilia, so it’s no surprise that fans worldwide want to get their hands on things. Before now, if you lived in Europe and wanted something from the gear store, you’d have to have a friend in the US ship it to you or pay incredibly high shipping fees and import taxes. Blizzard makes it clear on their FAQ page that the warehouse that supplies the EU store is actually in the EU, meaning that shipping prices won’t be quite so high. Anyone in the 28 European Union member states (including the UK) can order from the store, and the site is available in English, French, and German, with more languages coming in the future. Items can be payed for with PayPal and major credit cards, just like the US store. Pre-orders for certain items will be available on the store as well.

There are a few downsides, though. One of our writers who lives in the EU noticed that the new store doesn’t carry everything that the US store has; the Moira and Brigitte shirts are noticeably absent, so we can only hope that they will be added in the future. Those who live in the EU can still order from the US store, but they will be subject to the higher taxes and shipping costs from before. The EU store also does not ship to the US, meaning that those who live in the US will not be able to order any future items that may be EU-exclusive. The prices on the two stores are also different to account for the VAT tax and each country’s various other taxes.

This seems to be a great step forward for Blizzard fans who don’t live in the US, and we can only hope that they will continue their expansion to other areas of the globe as well. If you’re in the EU, head here to check out their stock!
