Fusion University’s Jerseys Banned on Stage
Last weekend, the Overwatch Contenders, a minor league for the Overwatch League, had their playoffs. Fusion University, the Philadelphia Fusion’s Overwatch Contenders team, was not allowed to wear their jerseys at the Season 1 finals. During their match against OpTic Academy, they went out to the stage wearing a black attire. This attire change was due to the fact that the team’s jersey had the team’s initials “F” and “U” printed on the front of the jersey.

In Defense of FU
In response to the jersey ban, Chief Financial Officer of the Philadelphia Fusion and Fusion University, Joe Marsh made a 4-photo panel which depicts “BAMF” on McCree’s belt and Houston Outlaws’ coolmatt’s number 69 being allowed to be broadcast on the stream. However, before Overwatch League was formed, “BAMF” was already implemented into the game. Additionally, prior to the Overwatch League, coolmatt was known for the ID, coolmatt69 in prior teams such as Team EnVyUs, Fnatic, and Team USA at the Overwatch World Cup.

As of now, Blizzard has no response to the banned jerseys. The Philadelphia Fusion, however, have shown their support for the contenders team, calling on Blizzard and Jeff Kaplan himself to make a statement in support of the team on their twitter account.
